In 2017, artist and designer Sanam Daswani was feeding children in a Mumbai orphanage. By her side was her eight-year old son, carrying a Spider-Man backpack. The children were transfixed by the cool, lively pack. A little boy asked if he could have it. Yes, of course he could. But that left dozens of other children without one.
Then and there, Sanam decided that she would make sure that these children who had so little would have their own fun backpack to take to school, the one thing they could call their own.
In early 2018, Sanam created Sonnet + Rose, a line of stylish, all-vegan handbags, to fuel that drive. For each handbag sold, a backpack is donated to children in rural communities in India.
Sonnet + Rose is proud to be a brand with a purpose. And to know that with each happy customer, somewhere on the other side of the world a little child’s day is made.
